The PHAVISMINDA Journal is the official publication of the Philosophical Association of the Visayas and Mindanao. Following the vision of the founder of PHAVISMINDA, Fr. Quentin Terrenal, SVD, former chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of San Carlos, the journal continues to be a space for philosophical discussions in these parts of the globe, reflecting the mood and atmosphere of the diverse philosophical scholars in Visayas and Mindanao, and the Philippines, as they dialogue with history and the world.
As the publication has been envisioned to be a journal on philosophy, PHAVISMINDA Journal welcomes submissions on issues in the different traditions and branches of philosophy, from Asian to Continental, Metaphysics to Political Philosophy, as well as critical and interpretative writings on philosophers and their works. The journal also accepts submissions from the different sciences that intersect with philosophical issues and treats them from the vantage point of academic philosophy.
With its first issue in May 1996 under the editorship of the late Dr. Virginia Jayme, also a former Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of San Carlos, the PHAVISMINDA Journal is one of the oldest-running academic journals in the Philippines solely dedicated to philosophy. Since then, the journal has published the works of pioneering thinkers and scholars in philosophy in the Philippines. Currently, the journal is working to be indexed as a part of its initiative to further expand its voice.
